The Serie A matchday 28 fixture between Genoa CFC and AS Roma will take place on 8 March at the Luigi Ferraris Stadium in Genoa. Genoa CFC vs AS Roma: prediction, betting odds and statistics.
Genoa CFC
In the previous round, the home side lost to Inter (0:2). Daniele De Rossi’s team remain three points clear of the relegation zone, but such a gap is hardly enough to feel secure. Genoa CFC are currently 15th in the standings with 27 points. Despite their position in the league, the hosts have looked fairly decent in attack. Since the start of the season, the team have already scored 32 goals and, by that metric, they are the best among the bottom ten sides in the standings. However, even those numbers do not always help the club pick up wins. In their last six matches, Genoa CFC have won just twice (three draws, one defeat), while scoring 10 goals.
- In 14 home games this season, the team have recorded four wins (four draws, six defeats).
- The hosts have found the net in their last five home league matches.
- At least two goals have been scored in nine of the club’s previous 11 Serie A matches.
Potential Genoa CFC Lineup (3-4-1-2)*
Justin Bijlow – Johan Vasquez, Leo Ostigard, Alessandro Marcandalli – Aaron Caricole, Ruslan Malinovskyi, Morten Frendrup, Mikael Egill Ellertsson – Tommaso Baldanzi – Vitinha, Lorenzo Colombo
Defender Sebastian Otoa, midfielder Brooke Norton-Cuffy and forward Tommaso Baldanzi will miss the match due to injuries.
AS Roma
A draw with Juventus in the last round (3:3) did not allow the away team to close the gap to Napoli, who are two points ahead of them. What is more, the team not only let victory slip away after holding a comfortable two-goal lead right up until the final 10 minutes, but also handed points to a potential rival. Nevertheless, Gian Piero Gasperini’s men remain in the top four of the standings with 51 points. Their defence is certainly worth highlighting – it remains the best in the league. After 27 matches, the side have conceded only 19 goals, which is an average of 0.62 per game.
- At least two goals have been scored in eight of AS Roma’s previous nine Serie A games.
- Across 13 away matches in the 2025/26 season, the team have recorded seven wins (one draw, five defeats).
- In five of the last seven away league matches, one of the teams failed to score.
Potential AS Roma Lineup (3-5-2)*
Mile Svilar – Gianluca Mancini, Evan Ndicka, Zeki Celik – Devyne Rensch, Kouadio Kone, Bryan Cristante, Niccolo Pisilli, Wesley – Lorenzo Pellegrini, Donyell Malen
Defender Mario Hermoso, forwards Artem Dovbyk, Matias Soule and Evan Ferguson will miss the match through injury. Defender Wesley is suspended.

Genoa CFC vs AS Roma: Match Prediction
Recent results suggest the visitors’ defence is starting to show signs of cracking: in the last five matches, the team have conceded six goals. However, five of those came in clashes with Napoli and Juventus. Even so, those figures have not prevented Gasperini’s men from collecting points, with their unbeaten run in the league now standing at four matches (two wins, two draws). Moreover, against less prestigious opponents, the club remain reliable at the back – their last five fixtures in the competition have been won to nil.
As for Genoa CFC, despite a relatively decent attacking display for a mid-table side, the team find it difficult to score against the giants. Of course, there was the recent match against Napoli, but the Neapolitans have one of the weakest defences among the top seven teams in the league. In addition, in recent rounds the hosts’ attack has looked less convincing: they continue to score, but mainly against weaker opponents or clubs with problematic defences, and AS Roma’s back line can hardly be described that way. Considering the visitors’ congested schedule and their style of play, we should not expect a high-scoring match. What is more, in six of AS Roma’s last seven away games, no more than three goals were scored.
Prediction: AS Roma, double chance + Under 3.5 goals
* For each team, the starting line-up shown is from their previous match in this competition.
