Monday nights big match, Southampton vs Man City

The Premier League 2019/20 season continues (despite Liverpool already winning the title) and Man City are the current form team. On the 2nd of July just a few days ago they hammered Liverpool 4:0 sending a statement to the rest of the league. Perhaps Liverpool was already "on the beach" but what can not be denied is Manchester City will be pushing right to the last day of the season. Their next opponents are Southampton and on July 5th the two square off at St Mary's stadium. The game will be televised for free on BBC 1, coverage starting at 18:35.

The last time these two met it was in November and Southampton nearly pulled off an upset having opened the scoring after 13 minutes. They held on to that slender lead until the 70th minute when an Aguerro equaliser pulled city level and near the death, on 87 minutes Kyle Walker gave Man City the lead for a 2:1 win and all 3 points.

Due to Manchester City’s ban, they will not be playing in the Champions League next season but they have shown they still have a desire to play for pride. Southampton, on the other hand, is already on the magic 40 points and are safe. They have nothing to achieve by winning and nothing to lose by losing so with no home fans there to cheer them on (or voice their disapproval), they are unlikely to be on their "A Game".

A recent form on paper shows two wins and a loss from the last three games for both sides, both having WLW coming into this. The noticeable difference is that Man City lost to a very game Chelsea side and then went on to hammer Liverpool. Southampton on the other than arsenal and have only picked up wins from Watford and bottom of the league Norwich.

Man City has suffered from injuries since the restart of football but could have Eric Garcia back in the fold after he returned to training following his sickening collision with Ederson against Arsenal. They will, however, continue to be without Sergio Aguero as he continues his recovery from a knee injury which he has undergone surgery to fix.

There are no notable injury worries to the Southampton squad.

Southampton vs Man City betting predictions and tips

This game is not particularly important for either team but Man City have quality throughout the whole team and have outgunned Southampton this season by almost 2 goals to 1. Man City have also shown with the Liverpool result that they are still here to play the game and they are playing the game to win. Whilst this game could go either way we can’t see past an easy Man City victory and would back:
